TOBI 2017 Faculty John Lyftogt, MD Publishes on Injections of Dextrose for Chronic Back Pain

TOBI 2017 Workshop and Live Model Lab Director John Lyftogt, MD, along with 2017 Speaker David Rabago, MD, and Faculty member Liza Smigel, MD, recently published a new poster in PM&R on caudal dextrose injections for chronic back pain. Dr. Lyftogt, the founder of Perineural Injection Treatment (PIT) will lead the TOBI 2017 PIT Workshop and Live Model Lab.

The purpose of this study was to assess short and long-term effects on pain and function following caudal epidural injection of 5% dextrose (D5W) for low back pain  (LBP) and either buttock or leg pain. A prior randomized study documented short-term pain reduction compared to saline control.
